Classic Corvette C2

It got a new look with a longer nose and the characteristic headlight as seen on the 1959 Chevrolet Stingray racer. GM-design boss Bill Mitchell and his assistent Larry Shinoda designed the car. Like its predecessor the bodywork is made out of glass fibre to save weight. Special for this car is the independent suspension. Spectacular is the in 1966 released 427-edition with a 6999 cc V8 engine which produces 425 hp. It accelerates in about 5 seconds to 70 mph and its topspeed is 153 mph. Famous is the 'split-window'. Corvette ZR1 at Nürburgring

Especially Nissan and General Motors take this very seriously. Friday 27th june 2008 at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany General Motors took the Corvette ZR1 for a test drive. Driven by engineer Jim Mero the ZR1 completed the 23 kilometer distance in 7 minutes en 26.4 seconds. That is faster than the Nissan GT-R (7:29) and any Porsche. It is 16.5 seconds faster than the Corvette Z06. Later that year the ZR1 was 4 seconds faster and drove in 7 minutes and 22.4 seconds the same distance. // Read More →

Its driving very smoothly without pushing the engine in the red. The driving experience you can compare it with a porsche or a ferrari without paying a fortune for the car. The 580 horsepower monster is blasting from zero to 96 km/h (60 miles/h) in 3.5 seconds and to a top speed of 330 km/h (205 miles/h). The price of a base Corvette Coupe is US$65,205 - even when adding the US$18,900 Callaway Corvette package, it comes out close to US$85,000. That's less than the 505-hp, Corvette Z06 that retails for US$93,775 and much less than the 638-hp ZR1 with the sky-high US$126,605 ticket.
