In the Transformers movie ‘Revenge of the Fallen’ you’ll find this Corvette Stingray. It’s not just a fantasy car. This comes from the design studios of General Motors lead by the design vice-president Ed Welburn. The new Stingray is inspired by the 1963 Stingray Split Window. Classic Corvette C2

It got a new look with a longer nose and the characteristic headlight as seen on the 1959 Chevrolet Stingray racer. GM-design boss Bill Mitchell and his assistent Larry Shinoda designed the car. Like its predecessor the bodywork is made out of glass fibre to save weight. Special for this car is the independent suspension. Spectacular is the in 1966 released 427-edition with a 6999 cc V8 engine which produces 425 hp. It accelerates in about 5 seconds to 70 mph and its topspeed is 153 mph. Famous is the ’split-window’.
